While it is beautiful and respectful and adult to have someone leave your decisions entirely up to you, when that person is presumably affected by them, sometimes it would be nice to hear a reaction. "That will make me sad." "Yeah, it's probably about time." Something to give you an idea what they're thinking. Sometimes that's something you want to factory into your adult decisions.

Sometimes not knowing at all what role you play in someone else's mental theatre is... difficult.
Sometimes people need extra coffee before they can work easily with pronouns.
