Today, in my scattered state of mind, I got off the bus and left my wallet on the seat beside me (I had cleverly laid down the newspaper over it, so I didn't see it when I did my glance-back check.
When I realized (about 3 hours later) I called the HRM call centre to get the Metro Transit lost & found. When I called them, I got a message. They are only open M-F 8-4 (nice of the call centre employee that gave me the number to mention that). So I left a message and then called back the city. I mean, people must leave all kinds of shit on the bus, right? Essential toys, prescription drugs, PURSES, keys.... things people need on the weekend. So they must have a way of getting into the Lost & Found. Right?
Nope.
Helpful patronising call centre guy tells me I could make a 'suggestion to Metro Transit, but good luck with that. No one's gonna want to be there on the weekend.' In fact, he adds, ' You're lucky we work on the weekends.' Well, since you weren't able to help me get my purse, I guess not THAT lucky.
Why couldn't there be one supervisor or someone on duty with a key? I don't need a full time staff person hovering over the L&F counter and reading magazines all day. I need to find out if my cash, Visa and ID have been stolen.
My bus pass is in my purse. Lost & found is located at the bus garage in Burnside. How convenient. Take time off of work to get out there, and pay for bus fare. Not much wonder no one ever picks up their hats or mitts or what have you. Why couldnt' they take one of the HRM or Transit places more central and make THAT lost and found? Ferry terminal? office in West End mall?? SOMETHING? Yet another dysfunctional aspect of our shoddy Metro Transit service.
I KNOW I'm a dumbass for leaving my purse... but you, MT, are asshats for not making it easier to retrieve.

riot? more like a whine
I know, I know. I haven't been ranting very much at all lately, I've been too soppy. Well this isn't going to be much different. Everyone knows a blog is a direct channel to the overlords of the universe. So here it is, what I want, what I always want... Consider this a santa letter.
I want to be swept
In a tide like the overrunning Sackville river
This wet wet spring,
That Peter and I watched from the pub window.
I want the kind of tingle that two
Electrical fields give when they brush against the other's
Space.
I want rapport, and compassion.
I want to be free to be moved to tears, to
Touch his cheek and hold him and not feel
Him emasculated or me beholden.
I want matching baggage
Common history
Slow sweet deep kisses.
I do not want to apologize for
Caring, I do not want a
Barnacle, I want passion,
Not your desperate projection of what
You think I am.
You have no idea what I can bear,
What I will take on, how
Strong I can be, if you only
be real,
be honest
And love me.

If I have learned nothing else this year
I have learned that whether or not a man will call you, email you, text you, hang out with you for full days at a time, eat meals with you, share drinks with you and in all other respects act like a "BF", if he won't kiss you, he ain't.
Or perhaps i've learned that I have chronic halitosis. Interesting.
